The battle for America's Lasagna 🍝

Strategic target #2: Don Angie

TL;DR: The most expensive ($68) Michelin-starred lasagna in America is sprayed directly with PAM canola oil spray on every sheet of pasta. Fill out their contact form and pile on our instagram post (comment @donangienyc) to save America’s Lasagna 🫡

Spraying PAM directly on food is unacceptable, literally something out of Kitchen Nightmares… Don Angie is booked solid for months straight, there’s no need to pull any punches or go easy on them.

There’s something about lasagna that is more comforting, more humble and more satisfying than your typical dish of pasta. One would assume a lasagna at any Italian restaurant would be safe from seed oils, but per the SOS motto it’s always safest to “Assume the worst”…

Perhaps the most sought-after lasagna in America is the incredibly chic $68 per plate pinwheel lasagna at Don Angie. This photogenic take on a classic from Grandma’s kitchen keeps a block-long line wrapping around the Michelin star winning eatery week after week.

Sadly, each side of the pinwheeled lasagna sheets and the bowl itself are sprayed with a heavy coating of Pam’s industrial “High Yield” Canola Spray, and there’s footage.

For a restaurant that claims to make this particular dish, “the best they possibly can” we think they could at least spring the extra few bucks for the PAM olive oil spray.

We think punching up to the highest-end restaurants and food suppliers is the best way to bring visibility to the cause, if the $68 lasagna uses seed oils there is little hope for the rest of us.
